What You Will Contribute: Develop strong customer relationships across multiple levels within their organizations: shop floor, programming, engineering, purchasing, and senior management. Act as a central knowledge base for machine accessories, work holding, and tooling products to recommend solutions direct to customers and for machine sales planning. Analyze customer equipment and processes to recommend solutions that improve the customer’s return on their capital investment, while growing efficiency and profitability. Partner with capital equipment sales in assigned territory to ensure all customer needs are met from pre-sales to project completion. Encouraging a sales territory to generate revenue when not supporting capital machine projects. Develop and deliver outstanding customer product demonstrations. Attend industry events and supplier training seminars to stay current with new products, processes, and technologies. Lead projects by collaborating with Morris’ engineering, capital equipment sales, contracts, service, and management teams. Possess an in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company. Must be familiar with or able to learn FAA requirements related to inspection and repair. In addition must be able to read and interpret OEM repair manual instructions. Must be willing to work in and learn lean/six sigma for continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Experience with CNC and manual equipment preferred. High School Diploma or GED. 2 plus years of machining experience and/or equivalent. Position requires ability to be willing to learn how to operate crankshaft grinders and Norton Strut grinder with CNC control. FANUC control preferred. Job Summary Sets up and operates assigned multiple spindle automatic screw machines. Essential Functions Sets up and operates multi-spindle automatic screw machines to perform a limited range of rough and finish turning, facing, boring, drilling, reaming, tapping threading, forming, and similar machining operations. Performs the job of automatic screw machine operator in its entirety as assigned. Sets up and operates machines at correct feeds and speeds, following standard operating procedures, producing good pieces within acceptable quality control limits per drawings. Receives direction from Team Leader or Set-Up Person and works from detailed machine parts drawings, machine manuals, specifications, tool charts and instructions. As inspection of parts indicate, removes, sharpens, and resets tools, gauges work and makes machine adjustments as necessary. Sets up and assists in setup of the screw machine. Prior to operating screw machines at start of shift, moves parts produced by previous shift, if necessary, away from machines for pickup by the Material Handler or Shipping & Receiving personnel for transportation to be cleaned. Checks to see that there is sufficient bar stock in holder (stock reel) to proceed and that bar stock is correct for the parts ordered. Turns on machine and produces parts. Checks first part from each spindle produced for adherence to quality specifications. If pieces do not pass inspection, shuts off machines and makes adjustments as needed to produce good parts. Keeps bar stock holder (stock reel) full to prevent any run-out of material and loss of productivity. Obtains cams, gears, drills, etc. as called for on the layout sheet. Obtains correct drawing and specification from scheduling department. Removes old set up of cam, gears, drills, tools, etc. as needed. Following set up layout, installs new set up cams, gears, drills, etc. to operate automatic screw machines at specified feeds and speeds to produce work to quality specifications. Removes old bar stock from stock tubes and installs new bar stock in stock tubes when applicable. Makes a test run of one piece from each spindle, inspects and checks dimensions against drawing specifications. Obtains verification of test results from Foreperson, Team Leader or Set Up Person before running the machine to make production Other Duties Inspects and gauges parts as per manufacturing procedures. Notifies Team Leader or Set-Up Person if parts are falling outside of drawing tolerances, and unable to make necessary adjustments. Detects and reports faulty operations, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies and other unusual conditions to Team Leader or Set-Up Person. Maintains work place area in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis, and performs a general machine and work area cleanup daily. Oils and greases machine, replaces coolant, and replaces drills, taps or inserts as required. Keeps machine free of chips. Makes out time, production, and quality reports as necessary. Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the work at hand. Performs other duties as required. Requirements: Physical Requirements Must be able to stand throughout an entire shift (8-12 hours) Must be able to bend forward, stretching forward, reaching into machine as needed to perform aforementioned job duties. Visual acuity to read micrometers, inspect small parts, and adjust tooling. Must be able to lift up to forty (40) lbs, ten (10) times throughout an entire shift.
